Wherever you go

After the death of Moses the LORD spoke to Joshua saying,
Get up, go over Jordan, you, and all the people, to the land I'm giving to the children of Israel
Every place the sole of your foot will tread, that I have given to you
From the wilderness to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, will be your border
Joshua 1:1-4

(In Jesus our 'promised land' is far greater)

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4

Ask what you will that your joy may be full
John 16:24

He that overcomes will inherit all things and I will be his God and he/she will be my son
Revelation 21:7

No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life
Joshua 1: 5

Thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph inChrist
2 Corinthians 2:14

As I was with Moses, I will be with you
I will not fail you, or forsake you
Be strong and courageous for you will cause this people to inheritance the land
Be strong and very courageous to do all the law
(Jesus did it for all mankind perfectly, and then took all our sins away as far is the east is from the west)

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us
Psalm 103:12

Do not turn from His word to the right or to the left, that you may prosper everywhere you go
This book of the law is not to depart from you, but you are to meditate in it day and night

That's how you make your way prosperous and have good success
The LORD your God (Maker of the universe) is with you wherever you go
Joshua 1:12

His life for ours

Joshua sent two men to spy secretly, saying, Go look over the land, and Jericho

They came to a harlot's house, named Rahab, and stayed there
The king heard about it and went to the woman's house. She hid the men and told the king she didn't know where the men went, 'they went out the gate at dark. Go quickly and you will catch up to them'

Then she hid the men on the roof of her house among stalks of flax
She said to the men, I know that the LORD has given you the land

Terror of you is on all of us for we heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, and how you utterly destroyed the 2 kings of the Amorites
No courage remains in any man here for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath
Swear to me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that you will also show kindness to my father's house

give me a true sign
that you will save my father's family and deliver our lives from death

The men answered her, Our life for yours, if you do not tell of our business

And when the LORD has given us the land, we will deal kindly and truly with you

She let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the town wall
She said, Go hide in the mountains 3 days to escape the pursuers, then leave
The men told her, Tie this scarlet rope in the window, and bring all your family into your house with you

Whoever goes out, his blood will be on him

[You have not been redeemed with silver and gold from your empty way of life but with the precious blood of Christ]
I Peter 1:18, 19
If you tell any of this you break our promise. She said, It will be as you said.

They left and she tied the scarlet rope in the window
The men escaped and returned to Joshua and said, Truly the LORD has delivered into our hands all the land

for all the inhabitants of the country faint because of us
Joshua 2

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
1 Corinthians 15:57

Too many wonders to count

Joshua told the children of Israel, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you
Joshua 1:5

The LORD said to Joshua, Today I will begin to make you great in the sight of all Israel

That they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you
Joshua 1:7

Command the priests that carry the ark of the covenant, When you come to the brink of the water of Jordan, stand still in Jordan

[Fear not, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord, that He will show to you today
Exodus 14:13]

By this you will know that the living God is among you

And that He will without fail drive out all your enemies from before you
Joshua 3:10

The ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes over before you into Jordan
Joshua 3:11

The waters of Jordan will be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they will stand in an heap

...the waters which came down from above stood and rose up in a heap, very far

...the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until you were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which He dried up from before us, until we were gone over
Joshua 3, 4

Many, O Lord my God, are your wonderful works You have done, and Your thoughts toward us

They cannot be counted
Psalm 40:5

Come boldly

When all the kings of the Amorites, that were on the west side of Jordan and all the kings of the Canaanites by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel until we were passed over, their hearts melted, and no spirit was in them anymore because of the children of Israel
At that time the LORD had Joshua circumcise the males of Israel for all the men of war died in the wilderness along the way, after they came out of Egypt
because they did not obey the voice of the LORD so He could not show them the land that flowed with milk and honey
Their children, that He raised up in their place, Joshua circumcised

(Circumcision was the sign God gave Abraham to show His righteousness by faith, not our works)
The LORD said, Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt (slavery) from off you

If you listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, the Lord will set you on high above all nations of the earth
Deuteronomy 28:1
The children of Israel camped there, and kept the passover on the 14th day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho
And they ate of the old grain of the land the next day, unleavened cakes, and roasted corn

And the manna stopped the next day
Verse 12

I am the bread of life, said Jesus

He that comes to me will never hunger

And he that believes on me will never thirst
John 6:35
When Joshua was by Jericho he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand

Joshua went to Him and said, Are you for us, or for our enemies?
And He said, No.

I AM captain of the army of the LORD

Now I have come

And Joshua fell on his face to the ground and worshipped, and said to Him, What does my Lord say to His servant?
And the captain of the LORD'S host said to Joshua, Loose your shoe from off your foot; for the place where you stand is holy
Joshua 5
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory
Isaiah 6:3

Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need
Hebrews 4:16

Blood bought

Now Jericho was closed shut because of the children of Israel
And the LORD said to Joshua, See, I have given Jericho into your hand and its king and mighty warriors
March the warriors, led by the priests, around the city once, not making a sound for six days. On the 7th day go round about the city seven times
On the seventh day, after the 7th time the priests are to blow with the trumpets
a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people are to shout with a great shout

and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up, every man straight before him
So this was all done as the Lord commanded. And Joshua said, Shout; for the LORD has given you the city.
The city is cursed and all that are in it

only Rahab the harlot will live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent

Take nothing from there or it will bring a curse on the camp of Israel
But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are set apart to the LORD

They will be brought into the treasury of the LORD
So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets and they utterly destroyed all that was in the city

(this city and people were totally saturated with demons and their doings)
Joshua sent the two men that had spied out the country to the harlot's house, and brought her and her family out

(Rahab became the great, great, great etc. grandmother of the Lord Jesus - showing that God loves all with His everlasting love)
And he spoke a curse over the city, Cursed is the man before the LORD, that rises up and builds this city Jericho
The LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was told throughout all the country
Joshua 6
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us
Galatians 3:13

(Because of what Christ did for us we are free from all the curses and have His blood bought right to claim all the blessings and promises of God)

So great salvation

Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi took cursed things and angered the LORD against the children of Israel
And Joshua took men to conquer the next city after Jericho, but the warriors of Ai killed 36 Israeli warriors; and they turned and ran from the battle
Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the ground on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening

He said to the Lord, Why have you brought us over Jordan, to kill us? We would have been content to dwell on the other side

What can I say when Israel turns their back before their enemies!

The Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and surround us and cut us off from the earth

And what will You do to Your great name?

The LORD said to Joshua, Get up. Why are you lying like this on your face?

Israel sinned, transgressed My covenant and took cursed things, deceived and hid it among their own stuff

So they couldn't stand before their enemies

I won't be with you any more unless you destroy the cursed things from among you

In the morning bring the people family by family
The next morning, when they came to the man the Lord showed who had taken the cursed things, Joshua said, My son, give glory to the LORD God and confess to Him

Tell me now what you have done

Achan said, I have sinned. I took a babylonian robe and 200 shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing 50 shekels; they are hidden in my tent

Achan and all his family and possessions were stoned and burned with fire

So the Lord turned from the fierceness of His anger
Joshua 7

(Achan caused the death of 36 Israeli soldiers. He confessed and he and his family would not be in hell because they were children of God)

But would it be fair and just of God to let them continue in this life having caused such great loss and suffering, the loss of 36 lives and 36 families being made widows and fatherless?

God remembers the victims

When He makes inquisition for blood, He remembers them: He doesn't forget the cry of the humble
Psalm 9:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us
Psalm 103:12

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?
Hebrews 2:3

Into your hand

LORD said to Joshua, Do not fear. Take all the warriors with you and fight against Ai

I have given into your hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land

You will take all the plunder for yourselves

Set an ambush behind the city
So Joshua chose mighty warriors and sent them at night to hide behind the city

He told them, We will attack from the front and then run away like before. They will chase after us

Then you go in and seize the city

The Lord will deliver it into your hands

Thw LORD your God will deliver it into your hand

When you have conquered the city set it on fire
When Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again, and killed the men of Ai
They let none of them remain or escape
Only the livestock and the plunder of that city Israel kept for themselves

as the LORD commanded Joshua

Then Joshua built and altar to the Lord in mount Ebal as Moses had commanded
And offered on it burnt offerings to the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings

(Worshipping and claiming God's promise of 'the Lamb of God who would take away the sin of the world')
Then He wrote there on the stones a copy of the law of Moses
All Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side, before the priests the Levites, who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and foreigners, the same as he that was born among them

Half of them opposite mount Gerizim, and half of them opposite mount Ebal

as Moses had commanded before his death, to bless the people
And after that, He read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law
Not a word was left out of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the foreigners that were among them
Joshua 8

The blessing of the Lord, it makes rich, and He adds no
sorrow with it
Proverbs 10:22

,,,grace given, that I should preach among the nations the unsearchable riches of Christ
Ephesians 3:8

and everlasting joy will be on their head

They will receive joy on joy
and sorrow and mourning will flee away
Isaiah 51:11

He only does wondrous things

When all the kings on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea heard of Israel's victories over Jericho and Ai
They gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel
Those living at Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai
They shrewdly took old sacks, and wore worn out clothes and carried moldy bread and went to Joshua saying, We are from a far country, not those close by (under sentence of death)
Make a treaty with us and we will live together
We heard of the LORD your God and His fame, and all that He did in Egypt,
And all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites

So our elders said, Take food and go meet them and make peace with them
Joshua 9

Peace I leave with you
My peace I give to you (infinite peace)
Not as the world gives, I give to you

Don't let your heart be troubled
Don't let it be afraid
John 14:27

The men of Israel saw their provisions and did not ask counsel from the Lord

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths
Proverbs 3:5, 6

Joshua made peace with them, and let them live: and the princes of the congregation swore to them
Three days later they heard that they were neighbors
The children of Israel traveled to them

(Some of the leaders wanted to execute them but) Joshua decided, So the wrath of God not come on us

because we swore to them in His name, we will let them live, but make them woodcutters and water carriers to all the congregation
Joshua called them and said, Why have beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when you dwell among us?
Now you are cursed, and none of you will be freed from being bondmen, and woodcutters and water carriers for the house of My God
They answered, we were told how the LORD your God commanded Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land

We were terrified for our lives because of you, and so did this
We are in your hand. Do to us what seems good and right
Joshua did not let the children of Israel kill them but made them woodcutters and water carriers of the LORD to this day
Joshua 10

Blessed be the Lord God who only does wondrous things
Psalm 72:18

(Even death is good because it stops the evil of the wicked, giving relief to all around them who suffer from their evil)

And for His children death is the beginning of infinite wonder that lasts forever)

His work is perfect: for all His ways are justice: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He
Deuteronomy 32:4

Forever

When Jabin king of Hazor had heard of Joshua's victories he assembled kings from the mountains and the plains and from the east and west
an army as vast as the sand that is on the seashore with horses and very many chariots

The met together to fight against Israel and the Lord said to Joshua, Don't be afraid of them for tomorrow at this time I will deliver them up dead before Israel

and you will hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire

So Joshua came on them suddenly and defeated them and chased and struck them until none remained
They took the plunder of these cities

Joshua left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses
He conquered all that land, the hills, and all the south country
Joshua made war a long time with many kings
No city made peace with the Israel except the Gibeonites
For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts that He might utterly destroy them
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said to Moses

And Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel

And the land rested from war
Joshua 11

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him:
Psalm 37:7

Wait on the Lord, and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land
Psalm 37:34

He that overcomes will inherit all things and I will be His Father and he/she will be My Son
Revelation 21:7

The Lord knows the days of the upright: and their inheritance will be forever
Psalm 37:18

He is our strength and shield

The Lord gave Joshua and Israel victory over 31 kings on the east side of Jordan toward the rising of the sun
2 1/2 families of Israel possessed this land
Joshua 12

(He gives us victory in combat also as well as victory over fears, worries, depression, conflicts with others, needs, problems, everything -

'ask what you will that your joy may be full' John 16:24)

When Joshua was old and far along in years the LORD said to him, You are old and far along in years, and is there is still very much land to be possessed

(We also have very much to claim from the Lord)

To us are given exceeding great and precious promises (over 3,000 of them in the Bible)

that by these we might be partakers of the Divine nature
2 Peter 1:4

I will drive out all those dwelling there. You divide it between the 9 1/2 remaining families

But to the family of Levi He gave no inheritance for the Lord God is his inheritance
Joshua 13

Caleb came to Joshua saying, I was 40 years old when Moses sent me to spy out the promised land

and I brought him word as it was in my heart

But my brothers that went up with me made the heart of the people melt

but I wholly followed the LORD my God

Moses swore on that day saying, Surely the land where your feet have marched will be your inheritance, and your children's forever, because you wholly followed the LORD

And now, the LORD has kept me alive as He said, these 45 years, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness (of unbelief): and now I am today 85 years old

I am as strong this day as I was the day that Moses sent me
Joshua 14

The Lord is my strength and my shield

My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped

Therefore my heart greatly rejoices

And with my song I will I praise Him
Psalm 28:7

Wells springing up to everlasting life

Joshua divided the land at the Lord's direction between the children of Israel

To Caleb he gave his part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD, the city of Arba the father of Anak, which is Hebron (communion)
Caleb drove from there the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, (who were giants numbers 13:33)

He went from there to conquer more

He said, Whoever attacks Kirjathsepher, and conquers it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as his wife
Othniel, his nephew conquered it and he gave him Achsah his daughter as his wife
Joshua 15:13-16

I am married to you, says the Lord
Jeremiah 3:14

I am persuaded that not life or death or angels or principalities or powers or things present or things to come or height or depth or any created thing is able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus

In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us
Romans 8:35-39
Achsah asked her father for a field saying, Give me a blessing, for you gave me the south land

Also give me springs of water. So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs

Whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never thirst

But the water I give him will be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life
John 4:14

The Spirit and the bride say, Come. Let him that is thirsty come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely
Revelation 22:17

He that believes on me, out of his innermost being will flow rivers of living water
John 7:38

Our beautiful Holy Maker is our refuge

LORD spoke to Joshua saying,
Tell children of Israel to appoint cities of refuge where any person who kills another unintentionally may run there and be safe from the avenger of blood
Joshua 20:1-3

God is our refuge and strength
A very present help in trouble
Psalm 46:1

If the avenger of blood (nearest living male relative) chases him, then they shall not deliver him into his hand; because he struck down his neighbor unknowing, and did not hate him before
He will dwell in that city, until he stands before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest

Then he can return to his own city, to his own house

(We too are at risk of death for sins, crimes against our infinitely beautiful and Holy Maker

Who in His great, magnificent love, Himself became our refuge)

The LORD gave Israel all the land that He promised and they possessed it, and dwelt in it
And the LORD gave them rest on every side, according to all that He promised to their fathers

Come to me all you who are weary heavy loaded and I will give you rest
Matthew 11:28

Not one of all their enemies was able to stand before them

The LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand

Now thanks be to God, Who always causes us to triumph in Christ
2 Corinthians 2:14
Not one thing failed of all the good the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel

All came to pass
Joshua 22:43-45

(He has given us over 3,000 promises to claim in His Holy Word)

The Lord fights for you

A long time after the LORD had given His people rest from all their enemies, Joshua called their leaders and said, I am old
You have seen all that the LORD has done to all these nations because the LORD has fought for you

The battle is the Lord's
1 Samuel 17:47

Stand still and see the deliverance of the Lord
2 Chronicles 20:17

Now look, I have divided to you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan to the great western sea
The LORD will drive them out and you will possess their land, as the LORD promised you

Be very courageous to do all that is written in the book

Do not turn from it right or left
Do not mention of the name of their gods

Cling to the LORD
He has driven out from before you great, strong nations

With God, nothing shall be impossible
Luke 1:37

No man has been able to stand before you

One man of you chases a thousand for the LORD, He fights for you, as He promised you
Be strong to love the LORD your God

If you go back to these nations and mix with them the LORD will not drive them out before you

but they will be snares and traps and troubles until you perish from this good land the Lord has given you
You know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing has failed of all the good things the LORD your God said,

All have come to pass

Not one thing has failed
Joshua 23
He has said, I will never leave you or forsake you
Hebrews 13:5

Man does not live by bread only, but by every word from the mouth of God
Matthew 4:4

He has infinitely blessed us

Joshua gathered all the families of Israel and called for the leaders; and they presented themselves before God
Joshua said to all the people, The LORD God says, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the river in the past and served other gods
And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the river, and led him through all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac
And I gave to Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave to Esau mount Seir, to possess it

but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt
I sent Moses and Aaron, and I struck Egypt and brought you out
You came to the sea, the Egyptians chasing you with chariots and horsemen to the Red sea
When you cried to the LORD, He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea on them, and covered them

Your eyes saw what I did in Egypt: and you dwelt in the wilderness a long season (38 years)
I brought you into the land of the Amorites who dwelt by the Jordan

They fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, so you would possess their land

I destroyed them from before you
Then the king of Moab made war against Israel, and sent and called Balaam to curse you
But I would not listen to Balaam; so he blessed you

I delivered you out of his hand
You went over Jordan, and came to Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you..six nations, and I delivered them each into your hand
I sent the hornet before you, who drove them out, the two kings of the Amorites; not with your sword or your bow
I have given you a land for which you didn't labor, and cities you didn't build

You dwell in them

You eat from vineyards and olive groves you didn't plant
Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him completely in truth

Put away the gods your fathers served on the other side of the river, and in Egypt, and serve the LORD
And if it seems wrong to you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve

But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
And the people said, God forbid that we would forsake the LORD, to serve other gods
For the LORD our God, He brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from slavery, and did those great signs in our sight

And preserved us in all the way we went, and among all the people through whom we passed
The LORD drove out from before us all the people who dwelt in the land

Therefore we will serve the LORD; He is our God.
Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve the LORD: for He is a holy God

He is a jealous God
If you forsake the LORD, and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and consume you, after all the good He has done for you
The people said, No! We will serve the LORD
Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
Put away the foreign gods among you, and turn your heart to the LORD God
So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day

And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD
And Joshua said to all the people, Behold, this stone will be a witness to us; for it has heard all the words of the LORD that He spake to us: it will be a witness so you not deny your God
And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, and who had known all the works of the LORD that He had done for Israel
Joshua 24

[The Lord has delivered us from all the forces of evil in the universe into His eternal safety, provision, and protection:

to be His children:

and to one day inherit all things:

and sit with Him on His throne forever]
Revelation 21:7

Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works that You have done, and Your thoughts which are toward us

If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be counted.
